I’m seeing a lot in my industry right now (and it’s the same each year), about new year – new me…nailing those resolutions…etc. The beginning of a new year is always busy in the coaching space, people have those “something has to change” moment’s on the cusp of the year rolling over and are suddenly spurred into taking action.

I love supporting those people, they are seizing the moment and ready for change – my perfect client! But what I don’t love, is when I see a whole load of fluff about new year – new me.

Because I don’t want you to create a new version of yourself! I want to support you to be the best version of you! Not a brand new person overnight, that’s just not realistic or sustainable. It’s much more effective if you’re on a personal mission to evolve, grow and develop into your fullest, most content and happiest self – or whatever it is that you’re aiming for

We can all set off on a path to a ‘new years resolution’, but I have a few questions that always immediately spring to mind and I’d love to know if they are questions you’ve already explored or if they make you pause and think.

  1. Was this resolution created because you felt you had to create something? Was it a new idea or something you’ve been mulling for a while? Think about why you haven’t started it already; what’s been stopping you?
  2. Is this resolution something that’s important to you? So important that you’re willing to put effort and energy into it, even when you don’t want to? Even when it feels tough and willpower has run out?
  3. Why is it so important? What positive impacts will you experience by starting and continuing? What will happen if you don’t get started or give up?

Now, here’s an alternative idea…

If you’re not quite reading to nail your exact goals, or you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment; you can still make progress; you don’t have to stay stuck.

I’ve been experimenting with the idea of ‘my best life vibe’. What this means is HOW I want to live my life, how I want to feel each day, the vibe I want to surround myself with and create in my own life.  You’ll have heard me talking about being on a mission to create more joy, ease and freedom in life?  So the decisions and choices I make, I consider whether they help me create that vibe?

What is your 2021 vibe?  Sometimes, if you’re not feeling clear on your goals, this is a great place to start, then you can look at what you might need to do in order to make that happen.
