1We are surrounded by energy; I’m sure you’ve walked into a room and ‘felt’ that the energy is different; Reiki offers you a way of tuning into that on a deeper level and using for your own or others wellbeing.
The word Reiki, means universal life energy and regardless of your beliefs it is something that we can all access through spiritual practice.
People are also awakening to the idea that we have more personal power to access, through our emotions, behaviours and mindset, and reiki can help us to notice any aspects of our wellbeing which are blocked, or not functioning as we might like and help to released this to create a harmonious energy flow.
You may have an image in your mind of what a reiki teacher or practitioner may look like, let me bust that myth right now – you can find reiki being practiced in all walks of life. To receive reiki, age is no barrier either, you can offer reiki to a baby in the womb or someone on their death bed. To give reiki all you need is an attunement from a qualified Reiki Master and the intention that Reiki flows for the greatest and highest good – it can do no harm.
I have been practising Usui-Tibetan Reiki for well over 10 years now, and as a teacher, my philosophy is very simple; practice reiki for my own and others wellbeing and to make a positive difference in the world around us.
As a treatment, Reiki is given to the recipient (who is fully clothed) and it can be a hands on or off treatment meaning that the therapist works with their hands gently resting on, or hovering above the body. Typically treatments range from 30 – 60 minutes in length.
Are you curious about learning? Read on…
When you learn Reiki, training often takes place over 2 days to allow time to learn the theory, apply to your practice and then reflect; personally, I believe this is the best approach to build confidence and I keep my groups small to allow plenty of time for exploration.
Reiki training is completed in levels – or degrees as it is sometimes known as:
Attaining Reiki 1 – or First Degree, means that you can being using reiki for yourself and others, but you cannot charge clients. If you wish to add Reiki as a service in your therapy room, then you’ll need to progress to Second Degree, or Reiki 2.
If you wish to go on to teach others, then Reiki 3, or Master level is the next stage.
As well as Usui-Tibetan, I also teach Karuna Reiki® – click here for more info
